3. Lines of Communication
- Solid Line (Manager): Responsible for hiring, firing, pay, performance reviews, and daily priorities.
- Dotted Line (Project Lead): Responsible for giving direction on specific projects or cross-functional initiatives.
- Example: A "Content Writer" reports to the Content Manager (Solid), but might take direction from the Head of Growth (Dotted) for a specific marketing campaign.
4. Escalation Paths
If an issue cannot be resolved at the immediate level, it escalates up the solid line.
- Level 1: Individual Contributor.
- Level 2: Department Manager.
- Level 3: Head of Operations.
- Level 4: Founder/CEO.
5. Role Definitions
Detailed Job Descriptions (JDs) for each role are maintained in System 08: People Management.
- Every JD must list:
- Who they report to.
- Which Systems they own.
- Which KPIs they are accountable for.
